THE GROUNDS PAGES

The landscaped areas of our grounds have increased in size over the past few years and more time is required
to maintain them. We have invested in professional machinery just to enable the members to keep on top of the task.
Last year we bought a monster grass cutter called a "BAD BOY" with a mulching head so that we don't have piles of grass everywhere after cutting. The only thing about this system is you need to cut the grass twice each week to make it look really nice.
We also had to look at how we dispose of garden waste. In the past we have had a bonfire site down on the bottom hardstanding alongside the slipway. Last year when the bonfire was lit it sent up plumes of black smoke which caused complaints from the neighbours. After looking at the reason for the black smoke, we discovered all manner of waste from cans of paint and bitumen to old carpets and any other rubbish people did not want. So as some of you may have noticed we do not have a bonfire site anymore, we now have a large chipper or shredder instead. Hopefully all the garden waste will now be reused to mulch or compost our flower beds.
